The Kiona-Benton City School District board adopted revisions to policy 3205 on discrimination and harassment to align with changes in state law. "For the first time, [the policy] does mention characteristics, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy or related conditions, and marital status," Mister Anderson, the superintendent, said while summarizing the edits.
Mister Anderson told the board the revisions are mainly refinements to existing language and that two policies were mistakenly included in the packet and will be removed (policy 3206 on pregnant and parenting students and policy 5012 on pregnant and parenting staff). The board moved to accept the revision and approved it by voice vote during the meeting.
