The selectboard asked staff to inform the local bus company that parking at Carpenter Field and the town office is not an acceptable long-term solution and that the company must find alternate parking ahead of scheduled construction and the upcoming baseball season. The board voted to instruct staff to contact the bus company and request relocation of the buses.
Separately, the board discussed transfer-station operations after hearing that a commercial hauler’s request for additional on-site trailer space had been denied. Board members asked staff to follow up with the transfer station manager to determine whether additional containers would prevent Saturday closures and lost revenue. The transfer-station manager reportedly requested more capacity but was denied by the hauler service; staff said they would reopen the conversation with the manager and the hauler to assess options.
Next steps: staff to contact the bus company to request alternate parking arrangements and to meet with the transfer-station manager to evaluate whether additional containers are feasible to maintain Saturday operations.
