Devin Burnham, a member of the Conservation Commission, asked the Select Board for permission to submit a full application to the state Recreational Trails Program after the town’s pre-application was accepted. "I'm here to request that the select board permit me to submit an application for a grant under the recreational trails program," Burnham said, outlining a plan to expand the upper loop, add gravel and water bars to lower trail sections, and install three educational kiosks and benches.
Burnham told the board the program is reimbursement-based, the project budget is about $9,000, and the grant requires a 20% match that can include volunteer labor. "It's a reimbursement program," Burnham said. He said in-kind contributions and volunteer labor would likely supply most of the match. The board voted to authorize staff to sign the permission letter and approved the application submission, with the work planned to begin after July and to be completed by December 2027.
