Council hears pool and community center report: nearly 14,000 visits in 2025, new pool surface and swim‑lesson expansion planned

A city parks presenter summarized 2025 pool operations and community center activity, saying the pool was open 67 days last season and that total attendance across swim lessons, meets and daily patrons approached 14,000 visits.
"We had about 13,000, almost 14,000 people come through the gates," the presenter said, and described upgrades including a new smoother 'pebble sheen' pool surface and improved flooring in the breezeway and concession area. The presenter said the new surface should last 15–20 years and that Jackson Pools completed the major basin project in spring 2026.
Staff told the council they had increased swim-lesson capacity by moving the swim team to morning practice and adding evening lesson slots, enabling roughly 48 additional evening swim lessons. The presenter also reported family‑pass use reached a record 3,490 uses and that private pool parties remain capped at 36 and continue to be popular.
On the community center, staff reported 7,482 visits and $6,875 in rental revenue in 2025; the presenter highlighted the center's role in programming and in hosting 542 rentals across various spaces. The council noted the 2026 opening day for the pool is scheduled for 05/25/2026 and invited further budget or operational questions from members.
