Spring Green trustees approve St. John’s Funfest license and operator permits; school fireworks, parade approved with candy restriction

The Village of Spring Green Board of Trustees on July 8 approved routine disbursements and a Temporary Class B/Class B retailer’s license for St. John’s Funfest at Veterans Park for Aug. 7–9, 2026, and issued operator licenses to Kymberly Lund and Pamela Miles of Spring Green.
President Robin Reid asked that one consent item — a request from Darby Blakley, identified in the minutes as the RVHS principal, for a fireworks display on Sept. 24 and a Homecoming Parade on Sept. 25 — be removed from the consent package for separate consideration. After discussion about float safety, Trustee Hope Winship moved to approve Blakley’s request on the condition that float entries not throw candy from floats or motorized vehicles; Trustee Deb Miller seconded the motion, and it carried on a voice vote. The minutes record Reid expressed concerns about candy being thrown from floats or motorized vehicles.
