Staff reviewed Cannon Beach's Transportation System Plan (TSP) implementation strategy and proposed a process to integrate Public Works and the Planning Commission on an annual capital improvement and parking-management work program.
The TSP, adopted previously, contains 58 recommended strategies; staff said only a few projects have been initiated to date and proposed quarterly reporting and an annual October joint session with Public Works to reconcile complaints, prioritize projects, and align funding and grant opportunities. Staff also noted near-term actions such as on-street parking stall marking downtown, parking enforcement enhancements, and coordination on sidewalk and crosswalk improvements.
Commissioners asked for comprehensive data collection on street widths, parking capacity, and safety implications; they supported piloting 'mini mobility hubs' (bike racks, lockers, bus stops and charging stations) in targeted locations. Staff indicated timing for follow-up and that a proposed October meeting would gather Public Works and Planning to set priorities for the next budget cycle and potential grant applications.
