At the close of its July 20 meeting the Haslett Board of Education voted to enter closed session for a student disciplinary hearing under the Michigan Open Meetings Act. A board member moved to go into closed session and cited the Open Meetings Act (MCL 15.268); the motion was seconded and the board took a roll-call vote and entered closed session.
"I'll make a motion to go into closed session pursuant to provisions of the open meetings act MCL 15.268," a board member said before the board completed its roll call and moved into closed session. The board recorded affirmative responses and then entered closed session; no details of the disciplinary matter were discussed in open session.
