The Basehor City Council unanimously adopted its 2026 legislative priorities, a short document city staff sends to state legislators to guide testimony and ask for policy positions supporting the city’s interests.
Deputy City Administrator Maddie Bouton noted the priorities are largely the same as the prior year and highlighted the city’s support for capping property valuation increases for taxation purposes. Bouton said staff and city leadership recently provided testimony in Topeka at the invitation of the chair of the Senate Taxation Committee. Sherry moved to adopt the priorities and to allow staff to incorporate council feedback prior to publication; the motion passed 4-0.
