At the Aug. 8 special meeting of the Trustees of the Trust of Charles Downer, Sharon Town Treasurer Deborah (Deb) Jones presented the trust's financials as of June 30, 2025, reporting $10,690.81 available in the Restricted Fund Balance. Jones told trustees that approximately $1,000 to $1,300 of that balance would likely be approved at the 2025 annual meeting for recurring annual requests and Probate Court filing fees.
Trustees heard the balance as context for a funding request from the Pine Hill Cemetery Association. Chair James (Jim) Kearns and trustees discussed the trust terms and confirmed the fund has been used in the past to reimburse cemetery labor for mowing the Town/Church green. Trustees subsequently approved a conditional $5,000 disbursement for a new mower; the award is subject to Probate Judge approval and paperwork to effect the disbursement will be prepared by the treasurer.
