The Ashley Community Forest Board discussed options for addressing invasive Japanese barberry in the southwest corner of the property near Clifford Farm Road. Chair David Paganelli reported receiving a quote from Redstart Forestry to chemically treat invasive plants in 2027 and 2028 but the board did not authorize a contract and asked for additional bids.
Kevin Gish asked whether the forest easement holders would need to approve chemical treatment; David Paganelli said that approval was "probably not" required but the board agreed further clarification and more competitive quotes are needed before making a decision. The Board will continue discussion at subsequent meetings; no contract or formal commitment was made on June 11.
