Peterson said Stellar is an OSPI-approved provider and can serve students statewide; the district's role would be to enroll Washington State residents and receive revenue into the district fund while Stellar handles program delivery and marketing.
Peterson emphasized that Stellar can serve students with IEPs and limited-English needs, which differentiates the provider from some others: "They are actually qualified to do that, and they have the staff to be able to do that." The presenter said the program is not meant to pull current in-district students into online schooling and described exclusivity terms and revenue arrangements that will be negotiated. The motion to authorize negotiation passed by voice vote.
