City awards Western Hills reconstruction and Loma Colorado extension design contracts

Director Gottlieb requested advice and consent for two transportation projects. The governing body approved awarding the Western Hills Drive Reconstruction Project to TLC Company, Inc. for $2,340,943.55, funded by NMDOT Transportation Project Fund (GRAMA), city general funds and utility department sources. Gottlieb said the project includes full-depth roadway replacement, new sidewalk connections, patch-and-seal work on adjacent streets, three new fire hydrants, and ADA ramp improvements; construction is anticipated to begin in September and last approximately six months.
Gottlieb also presented an award to NV5, Inc. for design of the Loma Colorado Boulevard extension between Broadmoor and Chestman for $1,981,694.15. The scope includes right-of-way mapping, arroyo crossing design, signal improvements and lighting, and a new roundabout at Loma Colorado and Chestman Drive; he said the project will eliminate the need for an additional signal and is expected to take about 2–2.5 years to complete. Both awards were approved by the governing body.
Councilors recorded their approval by roll call and thanked the engineering and project teams for advancing needed infrastructure projects.
