Pierre adopts budget supplement to buy new Tri‑County rescue boat; older boat declared surplus

On June 2, 2026 the City of Pierre adopted Ordinance 1890 to supplement the Tri‑County Rescue Fund budget by $136,060 to purchase a new rescue boat previously approved on May 19. Finance Director Lacey Walz presented the ordinance on second reading; Commissioner Lerseth moved for adoption and Commissioner Huizenga seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
Walz also presented a request to declare the current Tri‑County rescue boat surplus.
