Council accepts UDOT surplus parcels tied to I‑15 reconstruction

Ken (staff) briefed the council on six small parcels UDOT proposes to dedicate to the city as part of the I‑15 reconstruction, explaining the properties are mostly slivers adjacent to existing streets and will expand city right‑of‑way to accommodate realigned roads. "This will allow UDOT to move ahead with dedicating these properties to North Salt Lake, and we will have granted our consent for them to do that," Ken said, showing a map and noting locations at 400 East, 500 East and Overland Drive.
Council asked about potential contamination and maintenance liabilities; staff said locations have been reviewed for known issues and that future dedications can include certifications of no environmental problems. The council voted to accept the proposed transfers, and staff will continue to evaluate any parcels that appear irregular or expensive to maintain before final acceptance or recording.
