Board told district is in corrective action plan for trust lands carryover
Summary

The board was briefed on trust-lands accounts and a corrective action plan after the business administrator flagged carryover at most schools.
Scott McMillan said four out of five schools have red highlights for positive or negative carryover and that the district is formally in a corrective action plan. He explained principals manage three trust-land plans (closing, active, and upcoming) and that the district must better document and time expenditures to avoid multi-year carryover above state thresholds, which could put funds at risk. McMillan said some overages came from staffing allocations and timing of teacher-pay postings and that the district will notify the board of corrective steps; no board amendment was required but documentation and follow-up were needed.
