The Morgan Education Foundation reported it has posted a position opening for a paid foundation director aimed at expanding fundraising capacity and is building a new website to make donations and scholarship applications easier. A foundation representative said a scholarship application site that launched last year has been improved and will be ready for applicants in March or April.
Student board member Holly updated the board on Morgan High activities, describing planned spirit events and student engagement projects and celebrating athletic success: "Our boys basketball team is ranked number 1 right now... our drill team is ranked number 2... and our girls basketball team is ranked number 3." Holly highlighted peer-tutoring initiatives and special-needs basketball events as examples of student-led engagement.
Why it matters: Hiring a paid foundation director and better web infrastructure can increase fundraising and scholarship support for district students. Student activities indicate strong extracurricular engagement, which the board said supports student motivation and school climate.
What's next: Foundation will continue recruitment for the director role and complete website testing; the scholarship application cycle is expected in spring.
