Fire Chief Dave Johnson told the council the JDC went "fantastic overall," but reported operational issues: the department responded to about 211 calls in June and experienced generator problems. Chief Johnson said the transfer switches for the generator would cost about $3,500 to replace and that a new generator with a warranty would be about $13,000. He also noted an internet outage at both stations caused by a damaged cable that will be reinstalled properly.
Police Chief Gene Karzin also praised the JDC operations, noting donated cubicles from John Deere and monitors donated by QComm (59‑inch monitors). Karzin said one long‑time planner/employee resigned and will retire at the end of the month; he also reported that Officer Dawson should finish field training within a month and that Officer Minor is expected to start field training in August. Multiple alderpersons thanked first responders for their work during the JDC event.
