Select Board signs Consolidated/Fidium broadband build-out certification after clarification on eligible addresses

Representatives from Fidium/Consolidated Communications updated the Lancaster Select Board on the state-backed fiber build-out and the board approved the project certification. Sarah of Consolidated said, “393 of the 1507 eligible project locations approved by the State were located in Lancaster,” and explained the State-designated unserved/underserved count differs from the 455 addresses on the town’s application.
Selectman Kathy-Jean Lavoie asked why the earlier motion referenced 927 crossings and why that figure did not appear in the BEA documentation; Sarah said the certification provided is what the BEA requires and that Consolidated is working to stay compliant. Sarah told the board she believes Consolidated can supply a list of the roughly 62 addresses that were not funded by the state award and said those locations may be eligible under Consolidated’s separate build program but there is no firm timeframe for that work. The board voted to sign the Build-out Satisfaction Certification (motion by Selectman Lavoie, seconded by Selectman Rideout), and the motion carried.
