The business administrator provided the board an update on capital planning and recent bid results for a middle-school gym renovation.
He presented the district’s 10-year capital plan (a working document, not yet formally adopted by the board), explained principal-request funding (about $380,000 recommended this cycle), and described the Morgan Middle School gym project. The gym carried a $5.8 million overall budget (including a $3.8 million legislative grant). The administrator said bids came in below the budgeted amount and identified R and O Construction as the low bidder (with Will Nane, Zwick, Hogan and BHI following), noting a contract with the low bidder remains to be completed.
He also raised smaller capital items, including a proposed cell-phone booster at Mountain Green Elementary to restore on-campus cell coverage for safety/communication and ongoing work to connect high school and elementary school facilities to a pressurized water system in partnership with Morgan Secondary Water. The board asked clarifying questions about prioritization and timing; administration said the principal-request list will feed next year’s capital budget and that formal budget adoption is scheduled for June.
