District advances plan to designate Morgan High as a CTE center

He said the district has studied other models and is tailoring the plan to local needs.
The superintendent said CT director Robert Kilmer has pursued additional state CTE funding; “that will provide 43 additional WPUs to cover administrative costs should we qualify as a CTE center,” the superintendent said. The district expects completion of a new shop and a third-floor renovation at the high school to help refine and expand offerings. The superintendent said the board will revisit administrative details and implementation steps at the January meeting.
Supporters on the board praised prior site visits to a Catalyst Center in Davis School District as informative for the design. The superintendent characterized the current draft policy and plan as a “living document” that the policy committee can revise as needed before moving to formal approvals.
The board did not take a formal vote on the CTE designation at this meeting; the superintendent said he will return with more detailed administrative changes in January.
