District maintenance reports irrigation fixes, new gym coating and work-order system

Reed, a district maintenance staff member, summarized summer facilities work and said crews completed irrigation repairs that will allow better water control and reduce dead turf areas. Reed said pH testing of soils and targeted applications reduced fertilizer and weed-control usage this season.
On gym floors, Reed described a "micro layer floor coating" applied at both the high school and middle school as a cost-saving alternative to a full sand-and-refinish. "The plus of this is it costs a lot less than a full resend and refinish, and our staff can do it themselves," Reed said. He also reported the district launched a new work-order management system and completed routine bus maintenance, including delivery of a new SPED bus.
