Noah Giry introduced himself to the board: “My name is Noah Giry. I am from Conway, New Hampshire. I just recently moved to South Royalton in the past year,” and described his environmental-science background and local farm work. The board combined motions to accept the resignation and appoint Noah; members voted in favor and welcomed him. Later the board also voted to reappoint David Barker to the commission.
Commissioners reviewed outstanding grant work, including an $8,000 pilot to address emerald ash borer on Royalton Hill Road (about 100 ash trees were flagged; bidders will determine how many trees the grant will cover—estimated 20–30 trees for the $8,000 budget). The commission also discussed trail sign design, possible grant sources for planting on town property and potential utility of a wood-bank partner to process ash logs for distribution if infestation accelerates.
