Kiona-Benton board approves agenda, moves into executive session after reports

The Kiona-Benton City School District board opened the meeting, approved the agenda on a motion from a board member and took up reports from principals and staff across the district.
Board President Skipper called for modifications and, after a motion to approve the agenda, the board recorded unanimous voice approval. "Motion to approve the agenda," a board member said; the chair then asked, "All in favor?" and the board responded with a series of "Aye" votes. The consent agenda was likewise approved without public comment.
In presentations that followed, school leaders and staff briefed the board on staffing, orientation dates, facilities work, transportation and technology rollouts. Maintenance staff Reed summarized summer repairs and the new work-order system; Reed said, "We did receive a new SPED bus," noting the district was able to secure the vehicle at a favorable price. Food service staff reported the district secured federal fruit-and-vegetable program funds and is preparing a new meal application process.
During new business, a staff member reported that a large subdivision proposal along I-82 is advancing and that the developer has offered to donate acreage to the district if it proceeds; the board chair then moved the meeting into an executive session pursuant to RCW 42.30.110 for 60 minutes. The meeting was adjourned after the announcement.
The board did not take additional formal votes on new business at this meeting; tentative labor agreements were reported as ready for future agenda placement.
