One commissioner said, “If the right circumstances came along with the right opportunities and the right grant funding, if we could connect Waseca to the Cicada Trail, that opens up lots of possibilities.”
Staff noted the Songbird Regional Trail designation had been received but funding had been paused; commissioners agreed that early planning and right-of-way acquisition would be required, and they referenced state legislative work to simplify acquisition of abandoned rail corridors as a potential enabling path.
