City interns present summer projects on parks, utilities and downtown streetscape

City interns Celeste Paul and Addison Lioy presented on July 21 about work undertaken during their summer placements. Paul described developing elementary-level outreach materials for 2 Rivers Water, designing a water-tower challenge, researching dog-park equipment and rules for Lynnwood Springs Park, and preparing staffing recommendations for the SHIELD Museum's new exhibit. "My biggest project and most interactive was within Parks and Rec on Lynnwood Springs Park," Paul said.
Addison Lioy described GIS analysis to identify low- and moderate-income census tracts for future Community Development Block Grant eligibility and work on signage and trail-route mapping for parks. Staff confirmed white papers and documentation of the interns' work will be collected and used by departments. The presentation highlighted how the internship program supports city departments and helps generate materials for outreach and planning.
