Staff recommended adopting a newer code (2015 or 2018), noting significant solar- and tiny-home-related additions in more recent editions. One staffer warned about arc-fault interrupter requirements in later codes, saying they can create nuisance trips on common appliances and recommending the city consider not adopting that specific provision if it moves to a newer code.
