Linn Valley to switch to new water tower this week; residents warned of temporary sediment and pressure changes

Aaron, the project representative, told the council the project is "about 52% complete," and that crews have installed and pressure‑tested new mains, disinfected lines and sent samples for testing.
Aaron cautioned that when the new tower goes into service the town will switch the source and the older water treatment plant and the bulk fill station will be taken offline per KDHE requirements to avoid contamination. "It's not uncommon when we flush these lines to see some sediment over the first couple of days," Aaron said, and staff plans to open the valve slowly and flush lines to limit the impact. Council discussed contingency steps including pressure‑reducing valves and a program to notify residents about sediment or short‑term pressure changes. The mayor and staff also noted the change will improve static pressure and fire flows for the community over the long term.
