Mary Jane Rivenin presented a preliminary June 2026 financial report showing a $2,000,000 surplus on the revenue side for the fiscal year, largely driven by higher-than-budgeted prior‑year tax collections. She said nearly all departments were slightly over budget on expenditures but that revenue ‘is mostly in’ and purchasing will close major purchase orders before year-end.
Rivenin identified three line items of concern that may remain over budget in the final close: fire department communications (related to a new phone system), town properties (driven by higher-than-expected fire-hydrant charges), and the fire department’s operational overage. She said some shortfalls will be covered by committed fund balance or purchase orders that remain open, and officials plan transfers and reconciliations in the coming month.
