Dr. Carolyn Bernal, the superintendent, updated the board on an ODE request about instructional minutes. Bernal said districts had to submit minutes for multiple years and that the district's plan to restore lost time is to add two instructional minutes to each full K–5 day in 2027–28.
"So in 2425, we were less instructional in this because during that school year, we actually had 3 furlough days," Bernal explained, and she said the district has submitted a plan to ODE to restore the approximately six lost hours. Bernal told the board the middle and high schools have already met recuperation requirements through schedule changes; the K–5 adjustment affects elementary schedules only. She said she would follow up with the board by email with the minutes tables.
