Marlon Brinkley of the McDowell County Public Library briefed the Council on the library’s summer reading program, calling it one of the library’s largest annual events designed to reduce summer learning loss. He said registration opens Monday, June 8 at 12:00 PM and that the program theme is 'Unearth a Story.'
Brinkley described the kickoff event (date/time recorded in the library's packet) and highlighted the July 30 finale featuring the Hickory Dickers Dino Show. He also said the library will offer reading challenges for teens and adults and that an adult program coordinator has created a historical downtown scavenger hunt as an incentive for adult participation.
