Board reappoints officers, sets meeting dates and raises pay for chair, road boss and maintenance

At its Jan. 6 reorganizational session the Silver Creek Township Board approved Mike Helman as chair, designated Supervisor Geyen as road boss, kept the twice‑monthly meeting schedule and raised pay: chairman/road boss to $600 monthly and maintenance to $38/hour (part‑time plow rate $35).
During reorganization the board addressed appointments, committees, schedules and compensation. Supervisor Ryan Nelson moved (seconded by Andy Christensen) to approve Mike Helman as chairman and to designate Supervisor Geyen as road boss; that motion carried 3–0 with Helman recorded as abstaining. The board left current committee memberships in place and set the township cleanup day for May 2, 2026.
The board approved pay changes for elected/appointed roles and staff. A motion by Nelson, seconded by Christensen, increased monthly pay for the chair and road boss to $600.00; the motion carried 3–0 with Helman abstaining on that vote. In a separate motion (Christensen; second, Forsman) the board raised maintenance pay to $38.00 per hour and set part‑time plowing help at $35.00 per hour (otherwise $30.00). Those pay motions carried unanimously as recorded.
