Design Review Board reports 20 meetings in 2024; council asks DRB to contribute to LMO rewrite

A Design Review Board representative told the council on April 28 that the DRB held 20 meetings in 2024 and reviewed roughly 20 applications for new development, 18 applications for alterations and five sign applications.
Carstens said the DRB’s workload included a final review for the high school project and a conceptual review for the South Beach Marina in Sea Pines. Councilmember Bryson urged the DRB to provide more input to the pending land management ordinance (LMO) rewrite, saying the board ‘‘see[s] it up close and personal and can tell us what's working and what is not.'' Carstens and DRB members noted staff presentations (including Missy Lueck) will align with the DRB’s review and welcomed further engagement.
The DRB report and Bryson’s request were framed as advisory contributions to the LMO rewrite; no ordinance vote resulted from this agenda item.
