Board approves continuation of Graduation Alliance dropout-recovery partnership

Dr. Cicely Alexander presented the board with an update and request to continue Lubbock ISD’s partnership with Graduation Alliance, a drop‑out recovery and optional flexible school-day program the district began in February 2026.
"Our partnership began in February 2026, and we were able to actually graduate 6 graduates," Dr. Alexander said, adding the program has about "95 enrollees" to date and provides academic coaches, IT support, tutors, a local advocate and state‑certified teachers; enrolled students receive a Chromebook and Wi‑Fi support.
Trustees asked whether participants can graduate with their cohort and how the program affects community workforce readiness. Alexander said graduates are able to walk with their class when schedules align and that the district partners with Workforce Solutions to help graduates transition into careers. After brief discussion the board voted to continue the Graduation Alliance program (motion passed 4–0).
