Lubbock ISD honors more than 60 student artists; district wins theater and visual arts distinctions

Lubbock ISD trustees recognized more than 60 student awards at Junior VASE and announced the district was again named a TAEA District of Distinction and, for the first time, received a Texas Education Theater Association Award of Distinction.
Cesar De Leon, Lubbock ISD executive director of fine arts, introduced more than 60 students who earned recognition at the Junior Visual Arts Scholastic Event and told trustees the district had been named a Texas Art Education Association District of Distinction for the eighth consecutive year and received a Texas Education Theater Association Award of Distinction for the first time in district history.
"I'm excited to share that Lubbock ISD, once again, has been named a Texas Art Education Association or TAEA District of Distinction, for the 8th consecutive year," De Leon said, adding that the district's visual arts program ranks among the top 1.3% in Texas. He also credited teachers and administrators by name and invited the fine arts team to join for photos.
Trustees praised the students and staff. President Nancy Sharp thanked the fine arts team and noted the recognitions reflect board and leadership decisions that support student achievement. The brief recognition segment concluded with group photos and remarks of appreciation to teachers and families.
