Matthews Rotary outlines plan for seven clean-water stations, seeks school partnership

Ron Lambert, representing the Matthews Rotary Club, briefed the board on a planned "Water for Everyone — Matthews County Clean Water Week" (Oct. 10–17) and a Rotary global grant to install seven new water stations in the county. Lambert said the club already funds five stations that are heavily used (he reported "9,600 gallons have been used in 3 months" at one location) and that the WaterPro partner provides tannin-media treatment and UV disinfection for the stations.
Lambert asked the district and superintendent to help engage students and suggested an essay contest (high school) and drawing contest (younger grades) as part of the grant's required community behavioral-change component. He asked district staff to provide feedback and contact information so the Rotary can coordinate next steps.
