Mission Avenue confirmed in CIP; 36th Street project not programmed in near term
Summary
Staff confirmed Mission Avenue reconstruction in the CIP will include storm sewer, sanitary sewer and pavement work; commissioners noted 36th Street appears lumped into broader reconstruction categories and is only partially designed with parts under county jurisdiction and not yet programmed for near-term funding.

A commissioner asked whether the CIP's reconstruction project entries include utility work and whether 36th Street remained on the list. Public Works staff confirmed the Mission Avenue project will include storm sewer, sanitary sewer and pavement work. When commissioners asked specifically about 36th Street, staff said the project is partially designed, portions fall under county jurisdiction, there are two bridges involved, and it is not yet programmed in the near-term CIP but will carry over from current construction into next year's budget.
Staff also explained that because the city's budget year begins Oct. 1, many projects overlap years and that some figures in the CIP represent carryovers of work already under way. Commissioners requested clearer presentation of street-specific projects moving forward so familiar projects such as 36th Street are easier to find in the CIP document.
