Edgerton council OKs $200,000 CDBG application to repair 5th Street-area sewer

City CIP Project Manager Rhoderic Montgomery explained that the city plans to apply to Johnson County for a two-year, $200,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for 2027 to continue replacing aging sanitary sewer infrastructure in the 5th Street area. The project is already included in the city’s 2026–2030 Capital Improvement Plan and is intended to leverage outside funding to reduce local capital expenditures.
Mayor Roberts opened the required public hearing at 7:32 PM; with no public comment the hearing closed at 7:33 PM. Councilmember Clay Longanecker moved to approve submitting the CDBG application and Councilmember Deb Lebakken seconded; the motion carried unanimously, 5-0.
