Board approves Waukesha County special-education cooperative contract to preserve audiology services

The Pewaukee School District board voted to approve participation in the Waukesha County Special Education Cooperative (contract 66‑03) for the 2026–27 school year, maintaining access to audiology and deaf/hard‑of‑hearing teacher services.
Anthony Streitkee told the board the district has participated in the county cooperative (previously run out of Elmbrook) since 1989 and that the consortium provides equipment and specialist services that would be costly for the district to replicate. He said six students currently receive both consortium services and district special-education services; a recent costing analysis showed an alternative approach would be considerably more expensive.
A board motion was made and approved by voice vote.
