Council preview: $3 million in 2024 bond funds proposed for home repair program to combat displacement

Assistant City Manager Ben Woody previewed a new business item asking council to approve a home repair policy and allocate $3,000,000 from the 2024 GO bond to support the program. Woody said home repair was identified in the city's affordable housing plan as a strategy to combat displacement and to maintain naturally occurring affordable housing in neighborhoods.
Woody told council the revised policy incorporates recommendations from the Affordable Housing Advisory Commission except for one item, and that Sasha (staff) will present the policy to council during the meeting when formal action is requested. Councilmember Maggie Ullman said she was enthusiastic and hoped the measure would pass when taken up formally.
