The Commission voted 5-0 to approve a Memorandum of Understanding with Gallatin County that continues Anaconda-Deer Lodge County’s participation in the Southwest Regional Juvenile Detention arrangement. County Attorney Morgan Smith explained the agreement is an annual arrangement for pooled administration of Montana Board of Crime Control funds and shared access to juvenile detention facilities; Commissioner Ed Beaudette described how pooled regional arrangements reduce the expense when the county must use out-of-county detention.
Separately, the Commission approved a $3,500 funding request for the Anaconda Adult Learning Center for FY 2026–2027. Chair Kevin Hart and Commissioner Beaudette noted the amount matches prior years and recommended continuing support. Both motions passed unanimously with no public comment.
