Parks committee begins code cleanup work: committee name, chapter placement and member roles discussed

Members debated whether the committee should be called the parks committee, parks and trees committee or public lands board. Some members favored keeping the simpler 'parks committee' name and returning to tree-specific discussion when needed: "It's not like it has to be called the park and tree committee to discuss trees," a member said. The group also discussed appointment rules, nonvoting members, quorum language and simplifying provisions that currently read oddly in the draft code.
Committee members agreed to begin with the establishment section and recommended moving the establishment language into the boards-and-committees code chapter. They proposed removing or clarifying initial-appointment language and editing quorum and voting-language to reflect a 3-to-5 voting-member structure.
