Board seeks written confirmation of workers’ compensation coverage for retirement staff; athletic trainer membership delayed

Vincent Malgeri, who said he practiced as a workers’ compensation lawyer, pressed for written confirmation after prior experiences where staff assumed coverage but contracts did not provide it. He said it is "imperative that the staff have coverage." Cory Grace has contacted Futurecomp and procurement and will follow up with HR to obtain written clarification; the issue will return to the June agenda.
Separately, the Board discussed accepting an Athletic Trainer position into membership. Cory Grace said she had not completed research and would invite Dan Bauer and Kim Bevan to the June meeting to request acceptance and present supporting documentation. The Board unanimously approved placing the item on the June agenda and asked staff to gather comparative research from other communities.
