The board discussed the timeline for a possible election for the 4th member seat. Administrator Cory Grace told members that PERAC granted permission to hold the election on July 31 rather than before June 30; she noted nomination papers have been posted in public buildings and notices sent to active members and the school department. Mike Hagan's term is expected to expire June 30, 2026, though Grace said she believed the date might be Sept. 30 and confirmed the town will allow Hagan to hold his seat until after any election.
Grace also distributed PERAC memos and summarized discussions from the Director's conference, which included legal presentations by four PERAC lawyers and one private attorney. Vincent Malgeri asked Grace to verify whether board staff have workers' compensation coverage given the town pays their salary; Grace agreed to check and report back.
