Bonduel RDA to distribute $100,000 in SBDA façade grants for downtown improvements

Jesse Rankin, Director of Municipal Operations for the Village of Bonduel, explained at the Sept. 8 meeting that the RDA applied for a Small Business Development Assistance (SBDA) grant and received $100,000 to support façade improvements in the downtown district.
The funding was described as a match grant available to downtown businesses for exterior building improvements. Redevelopment Resources consultant Kristen Fish-Peterson encouraged business owners to reach out for assistance, saying she will be contacting owners in the next few weeks to discuss application details and how the program could be used for individual storefronts. Meeting notes did not specify exact eligibility criteria, match percentages, application deadlines or disbursement timelines.
James Cleveland of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) reiterated that the state awarded grants to support Bonduel’s downtown work, reflecting WEDC’s view that the Village has potential for redevelopment. Village staff and the RDA indicated they would continue outreach and coordination with property owners but did not take any formal action or vote at this session.
