The GFW School District board approved multiple personnel and policy items for the 2026–27 school year, including updates to the staff handbook, the student handbook, and a staff rates schedule that raises the daily substitute pay by $10.
During discussion the superintendent explained the substitute rate increase and said classified staff hourly rates (for cooks, paraprofessionals and secretaries) were adjusted based on settled contracts. "This does raise our substitute, daily rate of pay by $10, from compared to last year," the Superintendent said while outlining the staff rates recommendation.
The board also approved a fees-and-rates schedule that increases activity admission prices (for example, adult admissions rising by $1 and student admissions by $1, while GFW students remain free at home events). The student handbook updates included clarifications on unexcused absences and cell-phone procedures, which staff said are aligned with state-driven policy requirements.
All handbook and rate changes were vetted by HR and moved forward without substantive policy overhaul; board members approved the items during the meeting.
