The Town of Ballston Zoning Board of Appeals on July 1 classified a new application for 172 Charlton Road (ZBA2026-008) as a Type II action and set a public hearing for August 5, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. The board also initiated a referral to the Saratoga County Planning Board. The action was moved by Acting Chair Patrick Whitton, seconded by Justin Zampella, and recorded as carried by the board.
Owners Tim and Rebecca Holder described the proposed structure as a detached pole-barn–style garage with a covered patio at the driveway end to store cars, a boat, a camper and a tractor. Mr. Holder explained septic and leach-field constraints limit other locations on the lot and said "they are asking for a variance of 33 feet, so the building would be 17 feet from the side property line." Board member Julia Stone asked about wetlands; Mrs. Holder said the nearest ponds are each over 100 feet away.
