Chief Young presented the results of a competitive RFP and recommended purchasing two Type 1 medium-duty ambulances at a total price of $955,620 (each ambulance $477,810), including power-loading stretchers with seven-year service agreements and installed radio equipment. The department said the oldest ambulances have exceeded industry life expectancy and that delivery lead times are approximately two years.
Council discussion covered master lease financing and disposition of older units; Chief Young said one vehicle would be retained as a mechanical spare and others disposed of per town policy. Council approved the transfer of $955,620 from the fire department capital lease line and authorized the purchase (5–0).
