The board approved an interlocal agreement with the Washington State School for the Blind (WSSB) to secure assessment services and related itinerant-teacher support, and separately approved renewing a child-nutrition services agreement with Education Service District (ESD) 113.
Board members and staff said the WSSB agreement is prudent to have available for a student currently in evaluation for vision services. On the child-nutrition agreement (cost $11,000, unchanged from last year), the Chair and staff described concrete benefits: an associated $2,000 grant obtained this year, farm-to-school connections with local producers, on-site consultant visits that helped reduce waste and control meal costs, and professional-development support for the district’s new food-service manager.
Trustees moved and seconded approval of the items and the Chair announced the motions carried. During discussion staff emphasized that the ESD consultant’s ongoing work has produced cost-control measures and that ESD connections enabled site visits to other districts to learn scratch-cooking approaches.
