Council approves $11,185 emergency repair for City Hall fuel pump

Council approved an emergency repair quote from United Petroleum (quote 260414, rev. 1, dated 07/08/2026) in the amount of $11,185.29 to replace the motor and suction pump on the fueling point located in the City Hall parking lot behind the police department.
Public Works Director Robert Gunn said the original pump is the unit installed when the facility opened and that high temperatures caused vapor lock that made the fueling point inoperable, forcing police vehicles and the senior van to fuel off-site. Gunn said the repair will be charged to city hall maintenance accounts and staff will monitor spending. Council voted to approve the emergency repair by voice vote.
Council Member Luther asked whether the expense was budgeted; Gunn said it was not and the city will fund the repair out of other maintenance accounts. Gunn said the existing pump was manufactured in 2009 and indicated it had reached the end of its useful life.
