Rowan County creates Technology Advisory Committee, appoints members

Chair listed nominees and the board approved Damien Ackleman (Salisbury School System CTO; residency waiver granted), Amy Lynn Albertson (Cooperative Extension), Randy Kress (County CIO), Melissa Jean Olin (library director), Beth Pulliam (community college CIO), Ames Flynn and Charles (Rodney) Phillips; Ian Shepherd was also named. A commissioner volunteered to serve as the board's representative on the committee.
The committee is described by the chair as drawing members from the school system, Cooperative Extension, the county CIO office, library leadership, community college IT leadership and local business community members with data-center experience. The board approved the slate by voice vote without further public comment.
The committee will advise staff and the board on technical standards, permitting issues and community outreach related to technology projects including the county's recent focus on data centers and the short-term moratorium.
